Ta Som

Ta Som is a stunning temple located in the Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia. It is situated in the northeastern part of the park, about 1.5 kilometers east of the well-known Angkor Thom complex.

Ta Som was built in the late 12th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, who was known for his extensive construction projects. The temple was dedicated to Jayavarman VII's father and is believed to have served as a place of worship and a Buddhist monastery.

Ta Som is a small, yet exquisite, temple that showcases the classic Khmer architectural style. It is surrounded by a moat and features a single entrance tower, known as a gopura, on each side. The temple is adorned with intricate carvings and bas-reliefs, depicting various mythological and historical scenes.

One of the most iconic features of Ta Som is the giant fig tree that has grown over the eastern entrance gate, creating a picturesque and mystical atmosphere. This unique sight has made Ta Som a popular spot for photography enthusiasts. The temple also offers a serene and peaceful environment, making it a great place for contemplation and reflection.
